What you can do and see in Paros, in 7 days.
Seven days on Paros island truly might not be enough to see everything. That is because of the size of Paros. In this article we describe our suggestions regarding what to do and and consume less time.
You arrive in Paros on day one. You probably want to start your visit with check-in in your accommodation. If you are there early, you can leave your luggage and relax for few minutes. At this point we suggest you rent a car, if you haven’t done it already. After you check-in, it is time for a quick bite and depending where are you staying, you should go to closest beach. As the day ends, you should return to your villa and rest for couple of hours. Next on your list is a night out. We suggest you start with Naoussa or Parikia, depending which is closer. In both, you will have the opportunity to enjoy delicious dinner. There is a variety of taverns and restaurants. Of course, your choice might be the traditional Greek souvlaki. We will not suggest a cocktail, as it is time to rest, because you will have early wake up in the morning.
You better have a nutritious breakfast because it is time to explore Paros island! On the second day we suggest you visit Santa Maria area. It features two beaches. The first one, Santa Maria, is one of the most popular in Paros. The second is called Small Santa Maria. The distance between them is just 1 km. We suggest you visit firs Small Santa Maria for a nice relaxing swim and sunbathing. Afterwards, go to the other beach. It is much bigger and well organized. You can have lunch on the beach as there is tavern by the sand. Due to this schedule you are seeing two beaches in one day. About 4 km away from here, there is Naoussa village. Therefore, you should not miss the chance to see it during daylight. The narrow alleys, its unique harbour and the fortress, compose something unforgettable. Next step is a good sleep before you visit again Naoussa or Parikia, depending which one you saw the previous day. This time, combine dinner with a cocktail!
It is time to blend sunbathing with sightseeing. Today, your schedule features Marcello beach or Krios beach, along with a visit to Panagia Ekatontapiliani church. This is an important part of our island’s history. This is one of the first Christian churches in Greece and it dates back to 326 A.D. First of all, you will go for sunbathing and swimming to the above mentioned beaches. They are located in Parikia Bay and they share the same beach line. Therefore it is easy to walk from one to another. There are beach bars here and you can grab a bite to eat. After this you can visit Panagia Ekatontapiliani. There is a spot from which you can admire an amazing sunset nearby. You can find on GPS the Monastery of St. Anargyron, which is situated on a mountain above Parikia. Go there and you will be surprised! After resting for few hours, it is time for dinner. Today we recommend a small trip to Aliki. This is a coastal village with many seafood taverns by the sea. Dishes are delicious here and the scenery is very nice.
This could be the most adventurous day, as you are visiting Antiparos island. It is Paros’ smaller “brother”. First, get to Punda port on the west coast of Paros. You will find small port there from which you can take a ferry to Antiparos. Take your car with you because after arriving, you are going to Antiparos Cave. This is one of the most famous natural sights in Cyclades. The tour will take you some time. When you finish, return to the main town for lunch. The drive takes about 15 minutes. When your palate is satisfied go for a swim to Sifneiko beach or Kaloudia beach. Choose one with wind direction in mind. You can ask a local which is better during that day. Maybe they suggest a different one. You also could visit two or three beaches here, as distances are small. Antiparos island features numerous taverns and restaurants. Choose one for a delicious dinner. What you do from now on is your choice. You can stay here for a cocktail or return to Paros.
Do you like daily cruises? Because if you do, you will have the opportunity to participate in one! Destinations vary but, we thing the one towards Koufonisia is more suitable. There are tourist boats departing for daily cruises from Piso Livadi village. This coastal settlement is located on the east side of Paros. Due to different duration of cruises, as we don’t know which one you will choose, we live the rest of the schedule of day 5 to you.
There are two aspects of Paros which we didn’t mention before. Those are Lefkes village and Golden Beach. Day 6 is all about them. The sequence of combination, which one you will visit first, depends on you. Due to the fact that the locations are distant from each other, you should choose. Golden Beach is one of the most well-known sandy beaches in Cyclades. It is well organized and the sea is crystal clear. On the other hand, Lefkes is one of the most beautiful places in Paros. The village is built in the mountain range and it is the highest settlement on the island. It features panoramic view, picturesque houses and alleys, as well as taverns and traditional coffee shops. As it is your last night, we believe that for dinner you should go to Parikia or Naoussa again. There are probably some things you would like to see again, or take a walk in the alleys.
The day of departure is always sand. Although your schedule was full, you know that there are so many more things to see and do in Paros. That is why we believe that 7 day on our island might not be enough. On your last day you might take a final walk in Parikia before you depart by ferry. Maybe enjoy a café in the main coastal pavement.
